Jim Clyburn for U.S. Congress

The Sixth Congressional District

South Carolina's Sixth Congressional changed dramatically when the district lines were redrawn after the 1990 Census.  The current Sixth District includes all of Bamberg, Colleton, Clarendon, Williamsburg, and Marion counties, and parts of Calhoun, Richland, Sumter, Florence, Georgetown, Berkeley, Dorchester and Charleston counties.

The district is bi-sected by Interstate-95, and is a large part of what has been dubbed "The Corridor of Shame."  That moniker reflects the fact that the Sixth District is home to areas of high unemployment, dilapidated schools, growing health disparities, and contaminated drinking water.

Since being elected to represent this "new" Sixth Congressional District, Congressman Clyburn has focused his service on reversing the years of neglect that resulted in the shameful conditions in this part of South Carolina.  He has committed himself to rebuilding communities, creating jobs, eliminating disparities, and protecting the environment.  Jim Clyburn is a candidate with old values who is boldly leading the Sixth District in new directions.
